DR.CARRIE SKONY, DC, CCSP
Owner, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician

Dr. Carrie Skony grew up outside the Chicago suburbs and first became interested in holistic health and chiropractic after being treated for a dance related injury at the age of 14. Being a dancer is what first drove Dr. Skony’s love for human movement and fitness, but it was being injured as a dancer that fueled her interest in physical medicine, and ultimately a passion for helping other injured dancers and athletes through a career in Dance Medicine. Dr. Skony received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Iowa. She graduated Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences and has been in private practice since 2006. She is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician who utilizes a wide variety of sports medicine and physical rehab techniques to help athletes recover from injury and prevent recurrence. She provides personalized and sport-specific injury assessment and treatment and injury prevention education. Dr. Skony strives to provide the utmost care and compassion for others and believes strongly in educating and empowering patients, both young and old, to optimize their health. Within the dance community, Dr. Skony offers numerous workshops, teacher training, and dancer wellness consultation to dance companies and studios throughout the Midwest. Dr. Skony educates and empowers young dancers to learn how to care for their whole bodies well to inspire long term health and reduce the risk for injuries so they can dance safer, stronger, longer. She is also active in inspiring change within dance companies that supports dancers’ overall health and wellbeing and adapts to emerging dance science. Dr. Skony is an active member of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science, and has studied dance injury treatment and prevention extensively, including through Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU Langone Medical Center. She serves as a consulting physician for several pre-professional and professional dance companies throughout Chicagoland. She has been a contributing writer on dancer’s health and injury prevention for Dance Informa magazine, Irish Dancing Magazine, and Pointe magazine. Dr. Skony was a nominee for the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science “Dance Educator of the Year Award” in 2020, is on the Advisory Board for Doctors for Dancers, and one of the Founding Members of DanseMedica, a collaboration of dance specialists committed to the health of dancers everywhere. When she's not treating patients at the office, Dr. Skony loves staying active and spending time with her favorite people, her husband and two kids!

DR. ALISON MCCLEAN, DPT
Physical Therapist

Dr. Ali McClean grew up in Quincy, IL where she fell in love with the performing arts. She participated in theatre, choir, marching band, and, of course, dance! She trained primarily in ballet and traveled to the Chicagoland area in the summers for Chicago National Association of Dance Masters summer intensives. Dr. Ali attended Missouri State University in Springfield, MO where she majored in Exercise and Movement Science and minored in Dance. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has been practicing since 2022. As a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science, Dr. Ali enjoys staying up to date on the latest research in the field and combines evidence-based practice with individual needs to support patient goals. Currently, Dr. Ali supports the Loyola University Chicago Dance Program through educational workshops and back stage coverage during performances. She has also treated members of both the Loyola and DePaul University Spirit Squads and understands the demands of the artistic athlete. Dr. Ali is passionate about empowering young performers to learn more about their bodies and make informed decisions so they can enjoy long, healthy careers. When she is not spreading the good word of physical therapy, Dr. Ali enjoys spending time with her fiancé and two cats, Spot and Roscoe!

EMMA DESIDERIO
Clinic Assistant

Emma grew up in the Chicagoland area where she spent numerous years training and competing in a variety of dance styles. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Coaching Certification from Grand Valley State University. Emma was a four year member and three year captain of the Grand Valley Laker Dance Team, leading the team to 4 National Championships and 2 Hip Hop Battle Cups. Additionally, Emma has served as a Varsity High School Dance Team Coach, Guest Choreographer, and member of Dance Team Union’s Staff. Emma is currently a graduate student at Adler University pursuing a degree in Sport and Human Performance. She is devoted to bringing awareness to the importance of mental and physical health and loves sharing her passion for dance and wellness with others!
